Funeral services for Arnold Carson Huggins, 80, of Denmark, SC will be held at four o’clock p.m., Monday, March 16, 2020 at Ghents Branch Baptist Church with Dr. Thomas Terry officiating; burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. His grandsons will serve as pallbearers; honorary pallbearers will be Ricky Black, Jerry Brown, Billy Dyches, Jody Huggins, Tommy Hutto, Harold Keel, and Rickey Sumner. Memorial contributions may be given to the Ghents Branch Baptist Church Family Life Center, 1974 Ghents Branch Rd., Denmark, SC 29042. Mr. Huggins passed away on Saturday, March 14, 2020.
Born in Denmark, SC, he was a son of the late Arnold Estill Huggins and Roxie Carson Huggins. He was a member of Ghents Branch Baptist Church where he was a deacon, worked with various church committees, and sang in the choir. He worked for SRS as a sub-contractor for a number of years. Up until 1988, Mr. Huggins owned and operated Shady Lane Farms and Dairy; he spent many years raising, training and showing horses. He enjoyed playing church softball and was the oldest player on the church softball team.
Survivors include his wife Brenda Turner Huggins; a daughter Sonja (Jimmy) Folk of Blackville; sons Jud Huggins (Tracie) of Denmark; “B” Huggins of Barnwell; grandchildren Paul Weber (Jessy), James (Hali) Folk, Matthew Folk, Makayla Folk, Jacob (Allison) Huggins, Luke Huggins, and Aleks Huggins; great grandchildren Adalyn, Huntley, L. J., and Elly; a sister Annette Cook; a sister-in-law Patty Huggins both of Denmark; a number of nieces and nephews and his four-legged companion Bayba.
He was preceded in death by a brother Joe Lackey Huggins.
The family would like to thank Hospice Care of South Carolina and a special care giver Tina Craig for all of the love, care and attention that they have shown Mr. Huggins.
