Arthur Carlisle Holden was born on July 25, 1932 to John Wilson and Leila Larimore Holden of Britton’s Neck, SC and was married to the late Betty Marlene Renew Holden for fifty one years. He was a member of Living Waters Fellowship Church in Blackville, SC. Carlisle enjoyed fellowship with his church family and loved to raise his hands in praise.
Carlisle served in the United State Air Force during the Korean War. He was employed by EI Dupont/Savannah River for many years as a truck driver. Prior to his employment with Savannah River, he was part owner in H&S Trucking Company. After retiring from the plant, he owned and operated Scarborough Marina in Summerton, SC until retiring and returning home to Barnwell in the year 2000.
He was an avid fisherman who enjoyed time on the water with family and friends and enjoyed cooking and eating the catch. He was also a devoted Clemson Tiger fan and always enjoyed a good game of Clemson Football.
He loved his family, especially his Grands and Great Grands. Survivors include one daughter, Deborah Darlene Gray Baker of Summerton SC, Daughter-In-Law, Renee Holden of Barnwell, SC and Grandchildren; Deborah Nichole Pierce (Jeffery), Brittany Sloan Holden (Jamie) and Brian Smith (Christy), Great Grands, Bryan Nickolas Pierce, Kendall and Ella Smith and Sailor Lennon Holden and a host of nieces and nephews.
Carlisle was pre-deceased by his son, Johnny Carlisle Holden, sisters, Elizabeth Hamilton and Florence Vaughn, brothers, Henry Holden and John Wilson Holden, Jr.
A graveside funeral service will be held eleven o’clock Friday, September 10, 2021 at the Holden Family Cemetery on Garden Rd., Barnwell, SC with the Reverend Larry Hutto officiating; the family will receive friends at the graveside on Friday from 10 am until the time of the service. Please dress casually. Pallbearers will be Ryan Blankenship, Nickolas Pierce, Austin Renew, Billy Renew, Steve Renew and Robbie Rice. Honorary Pallbearers will be Jamie Towne and Marvin Morgan.
