Sheila (Baughman) Black

Funeral services for Sheila Baughman Black, 72, of Barnwell, SC will be held two o’clock p.m., Monday, November 12, 2018 at Trinity Baptist Church, Barnwell, SC with the Reverends Rommie Martin and Dan Fogle officiating; burial will be in the Trinity Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday and other times at the home of Sheila’s sister-in-law Arie Guess. Sheila passed away on Thursday, November 8, 2018.

Born in Aiken County, SC, she was a daughter of the late Melton Clyde Boyer and Vivian Hall Boyer and was married to the late Ben Thomas “Tommy” Black. She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church. She was a pianist having played for over 40 years at Hilda Baptist, Trinity Baptist and for 17 years she donated her time playing for the Salvation Army. She enjoyed Sudoku puzzles and loved spending time with her family.

Survivors include her son Andy Black of Barnwell; a daughter Julie (Robert) Powell of Orangeburg; a granddaughter Victoria Atkinson; great granddaughter Aubree Renee Willis; sisters Sylvia Baxley, Rena Kay Headden, Karen Miller; brothers Mike (Brenda) Boyer, Richard “Bubba” (Donna) Boyer, Donnie (Mary) Baughman and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her sister Sandra B. Still and brothers George Boyer and John Robert “Mote” Boyer.
