Odell Blume Obituary

Funeral services for Odell Bazel Blume, 73, of Barnwell, SC, will be held at five o’clock p.m., Monday, September 2, 2019 in the Folk Funeral Home Chapel, Williston, SC with the Dr. Kenneth Catoe and the Reverends Robert Altman and Jerry Fail officiating; burial will be in the Barnwell County Memorial Cemetery by the airport with U. S. Military honors accorded. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Monday. Pallbearers will be Brian Bodiford, Keith Bodiford, Brent Creech, Doug Mahan, Payton Mahan and Tyler Mahan. Honorary Pallbearers will be Charles Bodiford, Emory Bodiford, Jimmy Bodiford, Barry Creech and Calvin Still. Memorial contributions may be sent to Long Branch Baptist Church, 3223 Hwy. # 37, Williston, SC  29853. Mr. Odell passed away at home on Friday, August 30, 2019 with family and friends by his side.

Born in Barnwell County, SC, he was a son of the late Horace Bazel Blume and Eloree Still Blume. He was a lifetime member of Long Branch Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and was a Sunday School teacher. He received a degree in civil engineering from Clemson University. He retired as the resident maintenance engineer for SC Department of Transportation after 30 years. He served in the U. S. Army during Vietnam and achieved the rank of First Lieutenant; he received a Purple Heart after being injured January 1, 1970. Odell was a loving husband, Daddy, Papa brother and uncle and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Survivors include his loving wife of 48 years, Brenda Bodiford Blume; his daughter Kimberly Blume “Punkin” (Steven) Pridgen; a son Chris (Tabitha) Blume all of Williston; a sister Joyce Lott of Irmo; grandchildren Brooke Pridgen, Kaylie Pridgen, Brandyn Boatwright, Ella Blume, Kaleb McCormack, Sara Blume, Leah Blume, and Colton Blume.

He was preceded in death by a sister and brother-in-law Elizabeth (Robert) Holley; a brother Osvell Blume; a niece Sandy Kaye Holley and a brother–in-law Jack Lott.
