Mattie (Ray) Williams

A Graveside Funeral service for Mattie Pearl Ray Williams, 84 of Barnwell, formerly of Williston, SC will be held two o’clock pm., Wednesday, October 24, 2018 in the Williston Cemetery with the Reverend Russ Reed officiating. The family will receive friends at the graveside after the service on Wednesday. Memorial contributions may be given to St. James Anglican Church, P.O. Box 302, Blackville, SC 29817. Mrs. Mattie passed away on Saturday, October 20, 2018.

Born in Adel, GA, she was a daughter of the late John Asa Ray, Sr. and Mattie Lee Henderson Ray; she was the widow of T. Richard Williams. She worked as a library assistant in the public school system and was a homemaker. She was a member of Adel Baptist, Elko Baptist and Williston First Baptist Churches.

Survivors include her daughter Ginger Williams of San Marcos, TX; a son and daughter-in-law Dan and Branna Williams of Barnwell; grandchildren Thomas, Elizabeth and James Williams; sisters Robbie Nell Dumas of Hahira, GA, Ada (Louie) Horne, Merle McGlocklin; a brother Paul (Chris) Ray all of Adel, GA and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to express a deep appreciation to Gladys Walker for her friendship over the last few years.  

She was preceded in death by brothers Willie, LeRoy, Jack and John Ray, Jr.
