Kin Orr

A memorial service for Clifton Kinder “Kin” Orr, 62, will be held on Sunday, September 15, 2019, at 3:00 pm at the Barnwell County Leathernecks (Marine Corps League) Building, 4115 Barnwell Road, Williston, SC.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.  The memorial service will be officiated by Dr. Thomas Terry and Rev. Frederick Orr.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Barnwell County Animal Advocates, PO Box 1924, Barnwell, SC  29812. 

Kin passed away after a lengthy illness.  He was a resident of Williston, SC.  Born in Columbia, SC, Kin was a son of the late Jean Brinkley Orr and Lt. Col. Burt M. Orr, Jr., USMC, Ret.  Kin graduated from Brookland-Cayce High School and attended Midlands Technical College.  He served in the United States Air Force for ten years as an avionics technician.  Kin worked for Lockheed Martin as an avionics technician and crew chief.  He was a transmitter supervisor for SCETV and taught applied computer classes for Bamberg/Barnwell Adult Education.  He had a gift for explaining computer concepts to beginning students.  He developed websites and did other computer work for businesses, organizations, and individuals over a number of years. 

Kin was a former member of State Street Baptist Church in Cayce and a member of Blackville First Baptist Church.  He was a member and Past Post Commander of Patt B. Coggin American Legion Post #91 in Blackville.  As an amateur radio operator (HAM operator), he had been a member of Salkehatchie Amateur Radio Society.  He was an avid reader and a loyal Gamecock fan. 

Surviving are his brother Frederick B. “Fred” Orr and his wife Kathy of Blackville, his niece Liana Orr of Williston, and a number of cousins.
