Funeral services for Johnnie Luther Blume, III, 71, of Denmark, SC, will be held eleven o’clock a.m., Friday, August 24, 2018 at the Denmark First Baptist Church with the Reverend Matt Thomas officiating; burial will be at the Barnwell Memory Gardens on Reynolds Road. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Deacons of the Denmark First Baptist Church will serve as honorary pallbearers. Memorial contributions may be given in his memory to Meals on Wheels, c/o Denmark First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 325, Denmark, SC 29042. Johnnie passed away on Tuesday, August 21, 2018.
Born in Bamberg County, he was a son of the late Johnny Luther Blume, Jr. and Mattie Whittle Blume; he was married to the late BeBeta “Betty” Martin Blume. He graduated from Denmark-Olar High School, was a member of Denmark First Baptist Church, and retired from the United States Postal Service having worked as a mail clerk and letter carrier. Johnnie was a member of the National Association of Letter Carriers, the Boy Scouts of America, was a R A Leader and also volunteered his time delivering Meals on Wheels for the church.
Survivors include a son Tracy Neal Blume of Imperial Beach, CA; sister Jenny (F.C.) Noles of Blackville; sisters-in-law Mary E. Martin Gibson of Blackville, Elaine (Billy) Whetstone of Cope; grandchildren Alicia Nicole Blume, Yesenia Celeste Blume, Brain Anthony Blume; nephew Joshua Dyches; niece Jennifer (Rodney) Dyches; and other nieces and nephews.
