Funeral services for James Vincent “Jimmy” “Fox” Hightower, 77, of Bamberg, SC, will be held eleven a.m., Friday, October 11, 2019 at Ghents Branch Baptist Church, Denmark, SC with the Reverend Sonny Mooney officiating; burial will be in the church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Honored to serve as Pallbearers will be Delmar Diem, Harry Gillam, Landy Gilmore, Buddy Harrison, Chad Smith and Jason Smith; Honorary Pallbearers will be members of his Sunday School Class the Encouragers. Memorial contributions may be given to Ghents Branch Baptist Church, 1974 Ghents Branch Road, Denmark, SC 29042. Jimmy passed away on Tuesday, October 8, 2019.
Born in Bamberg County, SC, he was the son of the late James “Jim” Walker Hightower and Mildred Davis Hightower. Jimmy was a lifelong member of Ghents Branch Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon; he was a mason and past master of the Denmark Lodge #246 and served for 6 years in the Army National Guard. Jimmy also known as “Fox” by many of his friends and family worked for Brooker True Value Hardware in Denmark for over 50 years.
Survivors include his nephews, Wayne (Ann) Smith of Lexington, Larry W. (Brenda) Smith of Denmark and Don (Renee) Smith of Barnwell; great- Nieces and Nephews, Kim Ward, Jason (Mindy) Smith, Chad (Lisa) Smith, Ria (Dean) Williams, Jordan (Denver) Sandifer and Walker Smith; 9 great-great Nieces and Nephews.
In addition to his parents Jimmy was preceded in death by his sister Carolyn Hightower Smith.
