Jimmie Odom, Jr.

Funeral services for Jimmie H. “Jim” Odom, Jr., 78, of Elko, SC will be held two o’clock p.m., Thursday, September 13, 2018 at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church with the Reverend D. Floyd Dukes officiating; burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday.  Memorial contributions may be given to Mt. Calvary Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, P.O. Box 304, Elko, SC 29826. Jim passed away on Tuesday, September 11, 2018.

Born in Barnwell County, SC, he was the son of the late J. H. Odom and Nina Lee Collins Odom. Jim was a member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, was a farmer who loved his John Deere tractors; he previously co-owned and operated Odom Farm Supply. He attended Clemson College, previously served as Elko Fire Chief and was on the JDA Board of Directors from 1989 – 1997.

Survivors include his wife Jean Odom of the home; daughters Kym (Phil) Gainey of Williston; Kate Odom of Columbia; sons Jimmie A. “Tony” (Tiffany) Odom of Bamberg, Adam (Ashley) Odom of Columbia; sisters Carol Ann O. Hurst of Barnwell and Daisy Lee O. Mixon of Columbia; grandchildren Summer Gainey, Seth Gainey, Jenna Elizabeth (Kyle) Mitchell, Carrie Lyn Odom, Ella Kathryn Odom and a great grandchild Kaden. He was preceded in death by his first wife Sheryl Thompson Gunnells and a son Anthony Odom.
