Faye (Owens) Birt

Faye Owens Birt, 80, of Barnwell, SC, passed away on Tuesday, April 2, 2019. A Memorial Service will be held Thursday, April 4, 2019, 5 o’clock p.m. at Elko Baptist Church with the Reverend Tom Baker officiating. The family will receive friends from 4 p.m. until the time of the service at 5 p.m. on Thursday at the church. The family has requested that memorial contributions be sent to Elko Baptist Church, P.O. Box 277, Elko, SC  29826.

Born in Barnwell County, SC, she was the daughter of the late Jacob Norman Owens and Dorothy Keel Owens. She was a member of Elko Baptist Church and retired as a Customer Service Representative for First Citizens Bank. Faye enjoyed reading, birdwatching and cooking for her family. She also loved to shop, crochet and knit.

Survivors include her husband of 62 years Harry Lanier “Skeet” Birt; her children, Terri Birt (John) Reeley of Lexington; Angela Birt (Andy) Williams of Barnwell; Jeffery N. (Janice) Birt of Williston, Dawn Birt (Tim) Ochal of Las Vegas, NV; grandchildren, Nicole Marie Birt, Brittany Elizabeth Birt, Jacob Wiley Birt, Dustin Michael Smith, Margaret Grace Williams, Carley Faye Williams, Cody Lanier Birt, and Sydney Belle Ochal, 4 great grandchildren; a brother, Pat (Melvena) Owens of James Island, SC and her  four-legged devoted baby, Jolene.

She was preceded in death by a son, Tony Lanier Birt and a step-grandson, Joshua Steven Reeley.
