Ed Still Obituary

Funeral services for Royce Edward “Ed” Still, 78, of Blackville, SC will be held at three o’clock p.m., Thursday, December 26, 2019 in the Blackville First Baptist Church with the Reverend Ken Frederick, Dr. Thomas Terry and Pat Hightower officiating; burial will follow in the Blackville Cemetery. The family will receive friends from one-thirty p.m. until the time of the service at the church on Thursday. Memorial contributions may be sent in Ed’s memory to the American Cancer Society, 200 Center Point Circle, Suite 100, Columbia, SC 29210 or the Barnwell County Animal Shelter, 55 Diamond Rd., Barnwell, SC 29812.  The family would like to extend a very special thank you to Justin Folk for his love and compassion during Ed’s illness and a special thank you to Diane, Sylvia, and the MSA Hospice. Ed passed away at home on Sunday, December 22, 2019 with his family by his side.

Born in Blackville, SC, he was a son of the late Royce Randolph Still, Sr. and Beulah Elkins Still. He was a 1959 graduate of Blackville High School, during high school he was a star basketball player. He had a love for big trucks and trucking since he was 15 years old and was known by his CB handle, Snoopy. He worked for Joseph R. Still Trucking and retired as a self-employed truck driver. Ed loved watching football and basketball. He was a former member of the Blackville Masonic Lodge. He enjoyed piddling in his garden, joking around with his friends, and loved his granddog, Jade.

Survivors include his loving wife of 56 years, Barbara Ann Jurischk Still; his daughter Alicia “Reecie” Still of Blackville; granddog Jade; two sisters Evon D. Diamond of Blackville and Diane (Rodger) Croft of Newnan, GA; three brothers Joseph R. Still of Blackville, Jack O. (Donna) Still of Blackville, and Royce R. “Randy” (Frances) Still, Jr. of Barnwell; a brother-in-law Wayne Poston and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his sister Mary Poston, brother-in-law Donald Diamond, and sister-in-law Rebecca Still.
