Burnette (McMichael) Hartzog

A graveside funeral service for Burnette McMichael Hartzog, 94, of West Columbia, formerly of Blackville, SC will be held at eleven a.m., Friday, August 2, 2019 at Double Pond Baptist Church Cemetery with the Reverend Donnie Delk officiating. The family will receive friends from six to eight p.m., Thursday, August 1^st at Folk Funeral Home, Williston, SC. Mrs. Burnette passed away at home on Monday, July 29, 2019.

Born in Orangeburg County, SC, she was a daughter of the late Thomas C. McMichael and Essie Mae McMichael. She lovingly adored her husband of 62 years, the late Charles “Charlie” Franklin Hartzog. She worked as a telephone operator for BellSouth for a number of years and was a member of Double Pond Baptist Church. She enjoyed going to the flea market and reading her magazines. Mrs. Burnette was always willing to help people in the community and she never expected anything in return. She also enjoyed gardening and tending to her flowers. She enjoyed cooking and took pride in taking care of her family.

Survivors include her daughter Tami C. Hartzog and son-in-law Aaron Gurney of West Columbia; a son Charles Michael “Mike” Hartzog of West Columbia; a dear companion Joann Hayes of Denmark; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

She was preceded in death by her sisters Cora Chapman and Geneva Wilkes and her brothers George McMichael, Thomas McMichael, Hammond McMichael and Harold McMichael.
