Robert Hoyt "Brownie" Free March 09, 2010

Funeral services for Robert Hoyt “Brownie” Free, 87, of Williston, SC will be held eleven a.m., Thursday, March 11, 2010 at the Williston First Baptist Church, with burial in Barnwell Memory Gardens on Reynolds Road with Masonic Rites accorded. The grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Memorials may be sent to Hospice Care of SC, P.O. Box 1162, Barnwell, SC 29812. The family will receive friends from six to eight p.m. Wednesday, March 10th at Folk Funeral Home, Williston, SC. Brownie passed away March 9, 2010.

Born in White County, GA, he was a son of the late Owen Bernard Free and Lila Loyd Free and was married to Melba Miller Free. He was a member of Williston First Baptist Church and the Seekers Sunday School Class. He was a member of the Williston Lions Club and Hope Masonic Lodge # 126 and was in the Merchant Marines. He was an employee with E. I. DuPont having worked as an electrical and instrumentation technician. He retired after 33 years of service from SRP.

Survivors include his wife, Melba Free of the home; daughters, Carol (Mitchell) Harmon, Pamela (Mike) Gamble; sons, Robert (Janice) Free, David (Carol) Free; sisters, Edna Turner, Helen Gibbs; brothers, Clarence Free, grandchildren, Eric, Robert, Paul, Hope, Jason, Robby, Ellen, Sherman, Hollens and ten great grandchildren.
