David Nathaniel Bolen, 75 of Orangeburg, SC passed away Tuesday, May 28, 2013, after a brief illness.
A Graveside service will be held ten a.m., Thursday, May 30, 2013 at the Springfield Cemetery, Springfield, SC. Captain Ed Conner of the Orangeburg Department of Public Safety will be officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to a charity of one’s choice. The family of David N. Bolen wishes to thank their friends at Jolley Acres Healthcare Center, Orangeburg, SC and members of Orangeburg Public Safety.
Born in Orangeburg, SC on April 1, 1938, David graduated from Orangeburg High School and received an Associate Degree in Criminal Justice from Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College. David continued his professional training and education at the SC Criminal Justice Academy, Columbia, SC and the FBI National Academy in Quantico, VA. David was married to Barbara A. Fanning of Springfield, SC on January 6, 1962; they were married 51 ½ years. He retired in 1990 after 30 years of service as a law enforcement Captain for the City of Orangeburg, SC. He loved scrounging flea markets, garage sales, and auctions for antiques and treasures. He enjoyed Caribbean cruises, sitting on the Lido deck and meeting new people.
Survivors include his wife of the home, Barbara A. Bolen; daughter, Lynne Fallaw (Mark) of Gaston, SC; granddaughters, Taylor Cain of Atlanta, GA, Riley Cain of Gaston, Erin Fallaw of Prosperity, and Chapin Fallaw of Gaston; brother, Daniel (Jeanne) Bolen of Columbia; sister, Lee Myers of Rowesville, SC; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Mary Olive and Wallace Pender of Springfield and a number of nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents, Mr. & Mrs. Luther R. Bolen, Sr. and a brother, Richard Bolen.
